Biography
Members of the Anticon roster, Themselves—Adam "Doseone" Drucker, Jerry "Jel" Logan, and Dax Pierson—joined forces with the German outfit the Notwist—Markus Acher, Micha Acher, Martin Gretschmann, and Martin Messerschmid—each collective already accustomed to boundary-crossing teamwork. Doseone had contributed to Subtle and cLOUDDEAD, the Acher brothers had played in Village of Savoonga, and Gretschmann had operated as Console. While Themselves crisscrossed Europe and repeatedly played the Notwist’s Neon Golden, the notion of a shared album took root. At one Munich date, Notwist vocalist/guitarist Markus Acher watched from the crowd, and the two acts casually scheduled a co-headlining tour. 13 & God took shape during the final breakdown in a long string of tour-bus failures. After exchanging demos for several months, the musicians converged in Munich in September 2004 and tracked the self-titled 13 & God debut across seventeen days inside Micha Acher’s Transistor Studios.
