Among Brooklyn rappers who turned neighborhood dance trends into nationwide successes, 2 Milly follows Bobby Shmurda, positioning "Milly Rock" as the natural follow-up to the "Shmoney Dance." Emerging from the Skull Gang, a Brooklyn collective that eventually rebranded as Stack Paper, the rapper issued the track as a solo release in 2015, with crew members appearing throughout its video. Before summer ended that year, the clip surpassed one million views, and Travis Scott invited the Stack Paper crew onstage during his set at Hot 97 Summer Jam, the prominent New York City festival.
