Biography
In 1995 the band that later became 33 West first assembled under the name Skalicious, its founding lineup consisting of vocalist Andrew Gorski, bassist Ken Barnum, and drummer Nick Hughes. The members soon adopted the name 33 West once they decided that Skalicious would never command serious attention. While preserving their ska foundation, they folded reggae, soul, and pop-punk textures into the mix, an approach documented on their 1999 debut full-length Snacks. Trumpeter Dave McGraw, trombonist Jacob Walters, and guitarist Joe Nelson joined the group in time for the follow-up EP No Cash No Problems, which appeared the following year.
