Formed as an Internet-driven rap-rock outfit, 58 brought together Motley Crue bassist and songwriter Nikki Sixx, guitarist Steve Gibb—the son of Bee Gees member Barry—singer, songwriter and producer Dave Darling, and drummer Bucket Baker. Their first offering arrived as the single “Piece Of Candy” in spring 2000, with the full-length album Diet For A New America following that summer. Both projects appeared jointly on Sixx’s Americoma label and Beyond Records.
