Biography
Following his transformation into Snoop Lion for the reggae release Reincarnated, the rapper Snoop Dogg unveiled yet another persona called Snoopzilla through a funk-infused endeavor titled 7 Days of Funk, which spotlighted Dâm-Funk in his roles as producer, musician, and songwriter. The pair first connected during the 2011 SXSW music festival and subsequently devised plans for a collaboration that would merge hip-hop elements with the funk sounds they cherished from the 1970s and 1980s. Drawing inspiration from the works of Zapp, George Clinton, Prince, and additional artists, they captured the self-titled debut album for 7 Days of Funk before issuing it via the Stones Throw label during 2013. Guest spots on the record came from Kurupt, Tha Dogg Pound, along with Steve Arrington, a veteran of funk music.
