In 2002, the Midwest-based act 71 North debuted via the playful novelty track "Cleveland Shuffle," a line-dance number propelled by the iconic intro from Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean." Prior to that breakthrough, the Cleveland outfit had already generated attention through its "Boodie Bounce" single; that track, together with a pair of "Cleveland Shuffle" remixes, later appeared on the group's first full-length effort, Watch Us Roll (2002). Warlock Records supplemented the campaign the same year by issuing a budget-friendly maxi-single containing two versions each of "Cleveland Shuffle" and "Boodie Bounce," plus the title cut "Watch Us Roll."
