Initially known for a breakout single massive enough to earn them the occasional Lobby Boyz tag, the Queens-based outfit 821 arrived in 2015 with the release of “Lobby.” The lineup of Hoedy, C-Black, and KK DaDon had each pursued separate careers beforehand, trading features across a span of several years until they pooled their efforts in 2015 to record “Keisha’s Story” and “Hoe Life” as a unit. Momentum built rapidly once “Lobby” surfaced later that year; Diddy’s endorsement on his Revolt platform quickly lifted the song from local airplay to nationwide attention. In 2016 a version featuring Rae Sremmurd’s Slim Jxmmi was branded the “Lobby Challenge,” issued as a single, and included on the mixtape 2821 Reloaded.
