English indie outfit 86TVs craft a sound rooted in hook-driven, emotionally charged rock that draws from post-punk traditions. Emerging after the dissolution of the Maccabees, the band issued their self-titled debut album, 86TVs, during 2024.
The quartet assembled in South London in 2018, uniting brothers singer/guitarist Felix White, guitarist Hugo White, and bassist Will White with drummer Jamie Morrison. Their formation followed the 2017 split of Felix and Hugo’s prior band the Maccabees; the White siblings first collaborated on new material before recruiting Morrison, whose résumé already included sessions with the Noisettes and Stereophonics. The group surfaced publicly in 2023 via the EP You Don’t Have to Be Yourself Right Now, which spotlighted the track “Worn Out Buildings.” That August they unveiled their first full-length effort, 86TVs, incorporating the earlier material alongside the singles “Spinning World,” “Someone Else’s Dream,” and “Higher Love.”
