Biography
James Braddell and Keir Fraser devoted much of the 1980s to performances with industrial groups across Europe and the United States, relocating to Rome in 1992. That same year they launched 9 Lazy 9, moving away from heavy metallic guitar textures in favor of a production approach rooted in jazz, funk, and dance. The move earned them a contract with Ninja Tune, which issued the single "Monk's Dream" in 1993 and the albums Paradise Blown in 1994 and Herb in 1995. Three years after the debut single, the follow-up "Take Nine" appeared. An eight-year gap then separated that release from the 2003 album Sweet Jones.
