The band A fuses elements of punk energy, ethereal Moog synthesizers, and guitar-driven rock reminiscent of Britpop, all laced with immature, mischievous wit. Their initial foray came via the 1997 album How Ace Are Buildings, yet it was the 2000 record A vs. Monkey Kong that marked their broader introduction to American audiences. Following promotional tours for that effort, the modest reception prompted an early return to recording. This led to Hi-Fi Serious, an album characterized by greater pop sensibility and intensity, which arrived during the summer of 2002.
