A Global Threat came together around 1997 in Maine and quickly earned recognition for its intensely loud hardcore punk approach, soon shifting operations to Boston as its lasting home. There the band connected with Mark Unseen of the Unseen, who spent several years in the lineup and contributed to the 1999 EP Until We Die as well as the group’s first full-length album, What the Fuck Will Change?, before departing because commitments to two separate projects proved unsustainable. Across subsequent years the musicians placed tracks on numerous compilations while issuing a steady stream of EPs, splits, and 7-inch singles and accumulating extensive road miles across the country. Punk Core Records brought out Here We Are in 2002 and simultaneously reissued What the Fuck Will Change? with two additional tracks. Although membership shifted repeatedly, by 2006 the sole remaining original member, vocalist and guitarist Bryan Lothian, was joined by drummer Michael Graves and bassist John Curran. The trio aligned with BYO Records, which issued Where the Sun Never Sets in February 2006.
