Biography
A Race of Angels serves as the chief creative vehicle for Yeofi Andoh, an elusive figure who fuses soul, jazz, and folk. Hailing from the English countryside, this multi-instrumentalist first took up guitar and joined nearby punk outfits before relocating to the United States in the early 1990s, settling first in New York and later in California. Atlantic Records signed him for a solo project under the name Yeofi, yet executive upheaval caused Necessary Madness to be shelved ahead of its scheduled 1996 release. Andoh turned to fashion photography, later teaming with Dorado act Outside and vocalist Lizz Fields, before launching Race of Angels. Broadcast No. 1 arrived in 2005, launching a string of occasional short releases and compilation tracks capped by the yearning soul-jazz ballad "Just Begin," which appeared on From L.A. with Love in 2007. Years of quiet ended when the three-track EP Before the First Goodbye surfaced in 2016 as a preview of the forthcoming full-length Pointless on Fresh Selects.
