Biography
Aaron and Jeoffrey Benward, a father-son pair, bridged generational divides through vibrant gospel-infused pop across multiple releases on the Star Song/Chordant imprint. Jeoffrey had maintained a strong presence in Christian music from the 1970s onward, yet he expressed astonishment upon learning from a discussion with his son Aaron that the younger Benward aspired to the identical career path. The two opted to collaborate on recordings despite rejections from various labels wary of their unconventional combination, resulting in the 1995 arrival of their self-titled debut album. After the Rain appeared the following year, leading the duo to respond to the alternative revolution in secular music by softening their polished productions and injecting added energy into the songs.
