Italy's neo-impressionistic chamber repertoire has received authoritative treatment from the Accademia Amiata Ensemble, a collective of decorated instrumentalists. Saxophonists Marco Falaschi and Roberto Frati join pianist Ettore Candela in the group, which concentrates on realizations of works by late tango accordionist Astor Piazzolla (1921-1992) and Swiss composer Thomas Fortmann. Longtime participants in the Italian chamber circuit, Falaschi, Frati, and Candela have collected multiple national and international prizes while taking top honors at prominent contests held in Stresa and Ancona. Honor graduates of conservatory programs, Falaschi and Frati have appeared as soloists with Maggio Musicale Florentino, the Scala Orchestra in Milan, and the RAI in Torino and Napoli. The three musicians maintain ongoing faculty positions at conservatories located in Mantova and Florence.
