Biography
Contrary to widespread assumption, the Greek thrash/death metal outfit Acid Death did not launch their recording career in 1995 through the split effort Misled alongside Spanish extremists Avulsed. In truth the group had already existed for nearly five years when they issued the standalone single “Apathy Murders Hope” on home soil in 1993. Once stabilized around the lineup of Savvas Betinis on bass and vocals, Dennis Costopoulos on guitar, Themis K. on guitar, and Kostas Tsompanos on drums, the quartet tracked its first proper album, Pieces of Mankind, which surfaced in 1997. Themis K. exited soon afterward, prompting the addition of Nikos Andreadakis on guitar and keyboards; with that adjustment in place Acid Death continued onward to release Random’s Manifest in 2000.
