Biography
Originally operating as No Release in Salt Lake City, vocalist Jeremy Stanley, guitarist Brian Christensen, bassist Tom Collins, and drummer Joshua Zirbel spent the late 1990s and early 2000s grinding away in a locale scarcely known for post-grunge acts aside from the Used. The quartet nevertheless built a devoted local audience and released a three-song demo/EP. One track from a 2002 unsigned band compilation drew the attention of Republic/Universal, which promptly offered the group a contract. Rebranded as Acroma, they enlisted Tool producer Sylvia Massy to oversee their debut recording at her Northern California ranch. Various label complications held up the arrival of Orbitals for more than a year, until the album finally surfaced in May 2003.
