Tracing his artistic lineage to such towering figures as Butch Hancock, John Prine, and the late Townes Van Zandt, Texas troubadour Adam Carroll blends the perspective of a young singer-songwriter with an ageless sensibility. His recordings offer vivid portrayals of everyday rural characters and settings. The 1999 release South of Town marked his debut, with Lookin' out the Screen Door following soon after; both projects were helmed by the ever-present Texas producer Lloyd Maines. Carroll has shared stages supporting performers including Charlie Robison, Lucinda Williams, and Terry Allen, and he has singled out the lasting early impression left by Allen’s near-legendary album Lubbock on Everything. Born and raised in Tyler, Texas, he has also curated “Down Home Song Swaps” at venues across the state, trading original material with fellow songwriters such as Bukka Allen, Terry’s son, and Damon Bramblett.
