In the mid-'80s Argentinean pianist, arranger, and composer Adrián Iaies entered the jazz fusion circuit by assembling the group Touch. The ensemble cut Ventanilla 16 for Cirse Records in 1989 and followed it with La Lluvia es Sagrada, captured during a single session on May 26, 1993. Also in 1993 Iaies launched the Adrián Iaies Trío, which delivered Nostalgias y Otros Vicios in 1998 and the Grammy-nominated Las Tardecitas de Minton's the next year. He subsequently turned his attention to the solo-piano album Una Modica Plenitud. After appearing at New York's Brazilian-Argentinean Jazz Festival in 2000, Iaies relocated to Barcelona, Spain, where he recorded Tango Reflections.
