Biography
Adriana Maciel pursued flute and voice studies at the State University of Brasília in the Federal District before relocating to Rio de Janeiro in the mid-'80s. There she took part in multiple Oswaldo Montenegro musicals, serving as a backing vocalist along with production and lighting responsibilities on Os Menestréis and working as both musician and backing vocalist on Aldeia dos Ventos. In 1995 Moacyr Góes asked her to co-write, together with Sacha Amback, and appear in his play Abelardo e Heloísa. Maciel launched solo performances throughout Brazil in 1997, later extending those appearances to Germany at the Summer Theater Festival in Hamburg. The same year brought the release of her debut CD, which contained the track “Grama Verde” by Vítor Ramil and André Gomes and placed it in a nationwide soap opera, while she also collaborated with Lenine on the Seis e Meia project.
