Biography
Rasmus Rasmussen, a Danish musician working with electronics and guitar, records under the solo alias Aerosol and fuses IDM with ambient textures inside atmospheric post-rock frameworks. He belonged to the post-rock supergroup Limp alongside Jakob Skøtt of Syntaks and Jonas Munk, who records as Manual; the band issued its only album, Orion, on Morr Music in 2002 before transforming into the stoner rock unit Causa Sui. Aerosol first appeared in 2001 via a self-titled 12" EP on the French electronic label Active Suspension and soon after issued a digital EP through the Danish netlabel Datamusik. The project’s initial full-length, All That Is Solid Melts into Air, surfaced as a limited CD-R on Unlabel. Its downtempo, clicky beats and sparse yet warm atmospheres drew the interest of n5MD, the label that also supports comparable downtempo IDM and post-rock artists such as Bitcrush and Lights Out Asia, leading the imprint to sign Rasmussen and issue his second Aerosol album, Airborne, in 2009. That release retained the relaxed tempos and calming atmospheres of the debut while expanding the sound through greater use of acoustic guitars and hazy electric guitar feedback. n5MD reissued All That Is Solid Melts into Air in 2011. Four years afterward the label brought out Leave, Aerosol’s third LP, which takes its cues from Krautrock and kosmische music.
