Biography
The West Palm Beach, Florida quartet Afterlife channels early-2000s nu metal through their hybrid metal approach, delivering raw emotion and aggression shaped by influences such as Slipknot and Linkin Park. Afterlife originated in summer 2015 when ex-members of Every Passing Dream established the project, preserving that prior act’s metalcore foundation while incorporating crunching riffs, down-tuned guitars, programming flourishes, and vocals that alternate between rapping and singing. The lineup includes vocalist Tyler Levenson, guitarist Andrew McGuire, bassist Sinin Ables, and drummer Luke Walkinshaw. The band inked a deal with Stay Sick Recordings at the close of 2016, then released their first EP, Vicious Cycle, during the first months of 2017. Crafted under producer Zach Jones, Vicious Cycle entered the Top 15 on Billboard’s Heatseekers chart and spotlighted the track “Pain and Pleasure.” Afterlife moved to Hopeless Records during 2018 and commenced recording their first full-length album. Scheduled to arrive in January 2019, Breaking Point arrived after the release of the brutal yet catchy singles “Sacrifice” and “Throat.”
