In 1985 the Canadian thrash metal band Aggression assembled in Quebec, adopting the short-lived moniker Asylum. Their four-track demo appeared the next year and earned spots on underground compilations such as Greenworld’s Records’ Speed Metal Hell, Vol. 2 and Thrash Metal Attack on the New Renaissance label. Within the following twelve months, independent Facemelt Records commissioned a debut album provisionally named Forgotten Skeleton, yet disputes between the group and the label left the tapes unreleased for two decades. The lineup—vocalist Éric “Botcher” Langlois, guitarists Denis “Sasquatch” Barthe and Bernard “Burn” Caudron, bassist Yves “Dug” Duguay, and drummer Stephan Prudhomme—soon completed another set of recordings. Issued in limited fashion as The Full Treatment, the album drew favorable notices in 1987. Momentum had nevertheless evaporated, and the band was already headed toward dissolution, after which Langlois began a lengthy stint as bassist for the technical death metal act Cryptopsy.
