Biography
Ahmed Abdullah, a trumpeter whose playing has generated excitement while remaining relatively obscure, first took up the instrument at age thirteen. Attention arrived in the 1970s via performances across New York’s loft circuit. In subsequent years he has appeared alongside Chico Freeman, Charles Brackeen, and Marion Brown, directed his own Solomonic Quintet, and cut sessions for Silkheart and Cadence Jazz.
