Biography
Formed as the Alabama Sheiks, the pairing of fiddler Eddie West with guitarist Ad Fox offered a less prosperous imitation of the Mississippi Sheiks' blues and country string band style. In the first months of 1931, the pair journeyed to New Jersey, where they cut four numbers for Victor Records—one being "Travelin' Railroad Man Blues" alongside the prior year's blockbuster from the Mississippi Sheiks, "Sittin' On Top of the World." With record purchases at a minimum in that era, however, the musicians made no further studio appearances.
