Biography
Born in Mexico’s Chiapas region in 1913, Alberto Dominguez built a career as a composer and arranger. Two enduring Latin jazz standards trace to his work in 1939: “Frenesí,” cut by Pérez Prado along with many other artists, and “Perfidia,” a piece most closely identified with Glenn Miller even though Xavier Cugat delivered its biggest-selling recording, with further versions coming from Nat King Cole, Benny Goodman, and Jimmy Dorsey. Dominguez died in 1975.
