Biography
Glasgow, Scotland-based alternative rock ensemble Album Club began when a circle of friends first convened to discuss music, only later transforming into an active band. An eponymous debut album followed in 2022.
Conversations about albums had commenced in 2019 at The Laurieston under the guidance of de facto leader MJ Macarthy. The roster spans playwright Douglas Maxwell, actress and writer Isobel McArthur, novelist and playwright Cathy Forde, journalist and writer Peter Geoghegan, Gaelic arts member Rhona NicDhughaill, and two members of the Delgados in Emma Pollock and Paul Savage. On the self-titled debut that arrived in 2022, every participant contributed distinctly, some supplying lyrics or poems while others shaped vocals, arrangements, and instrumentation.
