Originating from San Blas, Sinaloa, the Mexican ensemble Alegres de la Sierra formed initially as a quartet featuring singer and guitarist Inocente Guerrero, known also as Chente, alongside singer and songwriter Manuel Guerrero, bassist Guillermo Guerrero, and accordionist Alberto Guerrero. The October 2001 appearance of Del Rancho a la Sierra on Infinity Music, which followed the earlier Suerte He Tenido, brought their first major attention. Recognition for the quartet’s polished execution of the traditional Mexican campirano style then secured a deal with Univision Music Group. Expanding to include fifth member Octavio Guerrero, the band tracked the 2002 release Alegres Sentimientos in Los Mochis, Sinaloa, with Javier Parra serving as producer.
