Texas R&B singer/songwriter Alesia Lani has built a devoted local following and reached listeners beyond the region through her rich, soulful voice, commanding stage presence, and wide-ranging mix of musical influences. Springfield, Missouri, is where she entered the world, yet at age four she relocated to Austin, Texas, alongside her mother and brother. Music filled her childhood home, so she absorbed songs from the radio and staged performances for relatives at a young age. R&B, blues, funk, and hip-hop claimed her earliest devotion, but during high school she added alt rock, punk, and metal to her listening. She soon began composing and delivering original material. By trusting her instincts and pursuing whatever appealed to her, she forged a distinctive style anchored in R&B’s smooth, warm, sultry atmosphere yet open to neo-soul, hip-hop, funk, jazz, Latin music, and rock.

Persistent gigging, strategic self-promotion, and strong backing from the Austin scene helped her gather a sizable hometown audience. Selection to appear at SXSW brought broader notice, after which she performed at Austin City Limits and Toronto’s Indie Week; two of her videos also aired on VH1. In 2020 she issued her debut album, With Love, on her own label. Several singles appeared over the following two years, leading to the 2023 arrival of her sophomore effort, Self Titled, which included contributions from fellow Austin musicians Jackie Venson, the Teeta, and Magna Carda. The Love like Lofi EP, recorded with another local artist, FLOST8, surfaced in 2024.
