Biography
Alex Machacek, a jazz guitarist and composer, entered the world in Tulin, Austria, during 1972. Classical guitar studies began for him at eight years old before he advanced to jazz guitar training at the Conservatory of Vienna and later enrolled at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. Joe Pass ranked as his foremost early influence, though Allan Holdsworth’s playing and Frank Zappa’s compositional methods also captured his attention. His debut album, Featuring Ourselves, reached the public in 1999, the same year he formed the trio BPM alongside drummer Terry Bozzio and reed player Gerald Preinfalk. Delete and Roll followed in 2001. Machacek relocated to Los Angeles in 2004, issuing [Sic] on Abstract Logix two years afterward.
