Biography
Combining the insightful songwriting of a seasoned tunesmith, the gritty guitar edge favored by rock enthusiasts, and the irresistible melodic pull that defines power pop, Alex Sniderman embodies the belief that potent, unadorned rock & roll can remain sharp, engaging, and eminently singable. Born in Ann Arbor, Michigan, he moved with his family to Murfreesboro, Tennessee during childhood. In the early 1990s, after developing a passion for music and taking up the guitar, Sniderman started the band the Tone Deaf White Boys. Learning that ex-MC5 guitarist Wayne Kramer had settled in Nashville, just a short distance from Murfreesboro, Sniderman made a direct overture to invite Kramer into the group. Kramer declined the offer yet, impressed after catching a performance, agreed to helm production on a recording. That project ultimately shifted into a solo release by Alex Sniderman. After settling in Brooklyn, New York, he put out the self-titled album on his own Psych-O-Sonic label in 2000. Following extensive live appearances across New York, the album saw a 2002 reissue on the Philadelphia-based independent imprint Real-O-Mind, now expanded with four new tracks that featured Kevin Salem, Billy Ficca, and Scott Yoder. Sniderman next turned to writing material for his subsequent album, again with Wayne Kramer slated to produce.
