Biography
Alexander Alyabyev produced operas and songs along with additional works such as the "String Quartet in Eb-dur" and the subsequent "Symphony in E-mol." Among the operas he created were "Lunnaya noch' ili Domoviye," "Novay shalost', ili Teatral'noye srazheniye," "Derevensky filosof," "Otstupnik, ili Osada Korinfa," "The Merry Wives of Windsor," and "Ammalat-bek." Ukrainian folk tunes found their way into his compositions from later periods. Skillful writing marked his instrumental pieces, which showed facility with gentle half-step chord progressions. The song "Solovay" stands as Alyabyev's best-known work.
