Biography
The paternal side of Luigini's family originated in Italy, yet his father obtained French citizenship and worked as both conductor and composer, creating ballets as well as cantatas. Alexandre secured a second prix for violin at the Paris Conservatory and went on to lead the orchestra of the Grand-Theatre in Lyons. Mirroring his father's output, Alexandre produced ballets while also writing across a wide range of forms that included comic operas, orchestral music, string quartets, chamber music for piano, piano works, and numerous songs.
