Alf Robertson emerged as a Swedish country performer in the 1970s before attaining his greatest commercial traction throughout the 1980s, with his catalog continuing to resonate in later years through repeated reissues of career-spanning collections. The Gothenburg native entered the world on June 8, 1941, and first appeared on record in 1969 via the RCA Victor release En Liten Fågel Flög.... Among his notable 1970s efforts stands the 1974 CBS Records project Alf Robertson i Nashville, issued simultaneously in Swedish- and English-language editions. His profile expanded markedly during the following decade, highlighted by the early-’80s LPs Mitt Land (1981), Emily’s Foto (1982), and Det Kommer Från Hjärtat (1983), each of which registered on the Swedish albums chart inside the Top 40. Further entries such as Soldaten Och Kortleken (2001) and Rosenkyssar (2002) also appeared on the chart, yet the strongest seller proved to be the 2008 double-disc retrospective Alf Robertsons Bästa, which climbed as high as the Top Five.
