Alfredo

Born in Argentina on April 20, 1953, Alfredo Joaquin Fiorito—widely known as Alfredo—pursued studies in business, then medicine, and ultimately philosophy. During the early 1970s he worked as a journalist and concert promoter, yet relocated in 1975 to the Mediterranean island of Ibiza, where he first earned a living as a clothes-maker before choosing to become a DJ. While already active behind the decks in the mid-1980s he encountered Chicago house, immediately began programming it, and later carried the style to London alongside fellow selectors Paul Oakenfold, Danny Rampling and others. A subsequent move to mainland Spain placed him behind the decks at Amnesia, where the music fully took hold. His 1986 sets at London’s Project Club fused house with rare grooves, although several years passed before England’s clubbers embraced the sound.
