Alfredo Dias Gomes, sibling to vocalist Denise Emmer and trumpeter Guilherme Dias Gomes, entered the professional ranks in 1978 by joining Hermeto Pascoal’s ensemble for the recording of Cérebro Magnético. Appearances alongside Pascoal at the II Jazz Festival of São Paulo and the Rio Monterey Festival soon followed. The 1985 single “Serviço Secreto” marked his initial solo release. He joined Ivan Lins’s regular lineup in 1987 and stayed through 1993. International and domestic stages were covered on tours with Lary Wilhans and Brenda Russel that reached Brazil, Japan, England, France, Germany, and Italy. Session contributions came with instrumentalists Márcio Montarroyos, Nico Assumpção, Leo Gandelman, Luizão Maia, and additional leading players, while vocal support extended to pop and MPB figures Lulu Santos, Ritchie, Morais Moreira, and Zé Renato. An original member of Heróis da Resistência, he issued his debut solo album, Alfredo Dias Gomes, in 1991 and followed it with Atmosfera in 1996, featuring Frank Gambale.
