Alka

Operating from New York, experimental techno producer Alka maintained an understated presence even within his own niche. A pair of albums appeared on the Gravitonium label he established—Polus in 2001 and Emit in 2002—yet meaningful notice arrived only after MRI’s Frank Elting and Stefan Lieb chose him as the inaugural signing for their Resopal Schallware imprint. Production work had occupied him since the mid-’90s, centered chiefly on film projects that included the acclaimed underground documentary Radioman. Elting and Lieb’s connection to Force Inc subsequently allowed the 2002 release Deployed to secure broad distribution.
