Kassimou Djae, recognized under the stage names Segnor Alonzo and Alonzo, built his reputation as a rapper and singer through major success within the Marseilles-based rap group Psy 4 de la Rime. The chart-topping collective issued three albums during his tenure before he launched a solo path. His first independent project arrived as the 2009 mixtape Un Dernier Coup d'Oeil Dans le Rétroviseur, after which he issued two albums on Def Jam France—2010’s Les Temps Modernes and 2012’s Amour, Gloire & Cité. Both reached the Top Ten of France’s album chart and solidified Alonzo’s standing among the nation’s most popular and respected artists.
France saw two additional Top Five albums from him in 2015, beginning with Règlement de Comptes, driven by the Top Ten single “Même Tarif” featuring Booba, followed later that year by Capo del Capi, Vol. 1 and its single “Normal” featuring Jul. Alonzo reciprocated the collaboration in 2016 by appearing on Jul’s hit “Ils le Savent.” He also delivered Avenue de St-Antoine, which became his first number one album in France.
