Alpha Centauri

Alpha Centauri, a hard rock outfit, originated during 1971 in Greeley, Colorado, a location far from typical music scenes. Initially operating as a trio, the group featured Randy Thompson handling keyboards and vocals, alongside Jess Redmon on guitar and vocals, with Kurt Smith providing drums. Garth Hannum came aboard in 1975 to contribute both bass lines and vocal performances. Over the subsequent years, the band embarked on nationwide tours throughout the United States, serving as openers for various prominent rock performers. Focus shifted northward to Canada by 1977, coinciding with the issuance of their first record, a self-titled effort issued via Salt Records. Although 1978 brought a televised program and multiple concerts, fans never received the anticipated follow-up album. The momentum from those standout years failed to sustain, leading to the ensemble's dissolution in 1983. Eventually, the sole album saw a reissue during 1996.
