Altar Boys

In the early 1980s Mike Stand on guitar and lead vocals joined Ric Alba handling bass and vocals plus Jeff Crandall on drums and vocals to create the CCM hard rock trio Altar Boys. Before the group disbanded near the end of the decade the three musicians issued five albums in all. Their opening effort, the self-titled Altar Boys, arrived in 1984 on the Ministry Resource Center imprint. When You're a Rebel surfaced the next year via the Broken label, after which Gut Level Music appeared in 1986 and Against the Grain in 1987. The Altar Boys concluded their studio output with Forever Music in 1989, although four compilations have since surfaced as well. A video package titled Mercy Is What We Cry For was also issued by the band. Stand subsequently launched Clash of Symbols, while Crandall later served as worship pastor in Victorville, California.
