Beginning his performing career as a singer with Rapazes de Vida Fácil during the early 1980s, Alvin L. went on to found Brasil Palace near the decade’s close, exploring a fusion of pop, rock, and bossa nova within that group. He also belonged to the Sex Beatles, with whom he cut two albums. Recognition has centered chiefly on his songwriting, however, as evidenced by recordings of his material by Marina Lima (“Não Sei Dançar,” “Deve Ser Assim,” “Na Minha Mão,” “Stromboli,” among others), Capital Inicial (“Todos os Lados,” with Dinho Ouro Preto/Bozo Barreti/Marcelo Susskind), Leila Pinheiro, Belô Velloso (“Menos Carnaval”), Toni Platão (“Tudo que Vai,” with Platão/Dado Villa-Lobos), and Ana Carolina (“Perder Tempo Com Você”). His initial solo album appeared in 1997.
