Biography
Am I Blood originated in 1992, initially operating under the name St. Mucus. The band aligned with Finland’s established 1990s strain of aggressive metal but shifted toward a distinctly angry tone in place of the light, pop-oriented metal for which the style had previously been recognized. Their opening pair of releases, Natural Mutation and the self-titled Am I Blood, circulated only in limited quantities across Europe. Janne Kermine (vocals/guitar), Pekka Kulmala (guitar), Toni Gronros (bass), and Sauli Suomalainen (drums) finally reached listeners in the Western market across the Atlantic upon issuing Agitation in 1998 through Nuclear Blast Records.
