Biography
Nestled in Russia's Ural region roughly 3,000 miles from Moscow, the quartet AMA Jazz—short for Association of Musicians of Avant-Garde—features Vladislav Talabuyev on saxophones and clarinet, pianist Anatoly Tilsov, electric bassist Alexander Brykin, and drummer Valery Zhilin. Largely untouched by American jazz conventions, the group's output stands out for its originality yet remains preserved solely on a 1995 Leo Lab CD.
