Biography
Amira Elfeky, a Los Angeles-based vocalist, merges nu-metal textures, a brooding goth aesthetic, and introspective songcraft to produce a forceful yet approachable brand of rock. Originally from Connecticut, she relocated to California and began developing material shaped by 1990s alternative acts such as Nirvana and early-2000s nu-metal outfits including Deftones and Linkin Park. Her initial tracks surfaced in 2023, among them “Tonight (demo)” and “Coming Down,” which quickly generated buzz and secured her a deal with Anemoia Records, an Atlantic imprint. Early 2024 brought the release of her debut EP, Skin to Skin.
Born in Connecticut, Elfeky began violin lessons in childhood and enrolled in every music course her school provided. At 15 she moved to the Bay Area, where grunge and nu-metal captured her attention. Responding to a “drummer wanted” notice, she met Brandon Iljas, and the two started recording in his San Francisco bedroom studio, though she found the results unsatisfying. In Los Angeles she gained access to the home studio of Ian Hunter, founder of the Anemoia label, and there honed a fusion of hazy Deftones-style alternative metal with the theatrical goth rock of Evanescence. After “Tonight (demo)” appeared in mid-2023 on a new-songs playlist, she signed with the imprint and issued follow-ups such as “Coming Down” and “Everything I Do Is for You.” February 2024 saw her deliver a cover of System of a Down’s “Lonely Day.” Her first EP, Skin to Skin, arrived in March 2024 and introduced the single “A Dozen Roses.”
