Biography
Four musicians whose paths rarely intersect—avant-rock veteran Richard Youngs, experimental artist Luke Fowler, Norwegian jazz double bassist Michael Francis Duch, and Franz Ferdinand drummer Paul Thomson—joined forces in AMOR to pursue an unexpected direction in sprawling, left-field neo-disco. Their 2018 full-length debut Sinking Into a Miracle showcases extended workouts anchored by locked-in rhythms and the clear, optimistic vocals of Youngs.
The Glasgow-based quartet launched its recording career with the 2017 Night School 12" Paradise/In Love an Arc, followed soon after by Higher Moment/Amnesia. All four songs on these singles stretch into free-flowing disco epics, each clocking in at more than ten minutes. AMOR refined its approach on the 2018 debut album Sinking Into a Miracle, tightening arrangements and shortening compositions.
