Biography
In the closing months of 1994, twelve-year-old bassist Albin Johansson and his identical twin Alfred, who played drums, established the Swedish teenage black metal band Amsvartner, with co-founding guitarist Jonathan Holmgren just two years their senior. Initially called Awakening, the group completed its roster by adding the twins’ older brother Marcus as vocalist and Daniel Nygaard on guitar, then tracked its first demo in autumn 1995. A year afterward the band recorded the second Amsvartner demo Underneath the Thousand Years Gate, issued its proper debut Trollish Mirror in 1999, and released Dreams before that year ended.
