Ana Da Silva, best known as a founding member of the groundbreaking all-female punk group the Raincoats, kept creating music in various forms after the band split up in 1984. Not long after the Raincoats issued their last album, Moving, she joined forces with Charles Hayward, drummer from This Heat, on a venture called Roseland; the pair cut several demos before the project ended. She also supplied scores for choreographer Gaby Agis’ productions, yet devoted much of the 1980s and early 1990s to painting and a job in an antique shop. The Raincoats’ reunion motivated Da Silva and her bandmates to compose new material, which became the group’s fifth album, Looking in the Shadows, released in 1996. Early in 2005 she returned with Lighthouse, a predominantly electronic set of songs that she wrote, recorded, and produced on her own.
