Biography
Born to composers Nelson Ângelo and Joyce and the sibling of Clara Moreno, Ana Martins entered the music industry at age four through appearances on her mother’s recordings, among them the track “Clareana,” whose title combines the names of both daughters. Participation in children’s choirs brought her onto albums by Xuxa and Os Trapalhões as well as the LPs Balão Mágico, Bloco da Palhoça, and Trem da Alegria. She further contributed to the soundtracks of the television specials Plunct Plact Zuum and Verde Que Te Quero Ver (Edmundo Souto/Paulinho Tapajós). Additional sessions found her supplying backing vocals for Egberto Gismonti, Milton Nascimento, Roberto Carlos, Gonzaguinha, João Nogueira, Ivone Lara, and Cazuza. Membership in the dance group Corpo Livre earned her third place at the Joinville Dance Festival. Joint performances with Joyce took the pair throughout Brazil and to the United States, where they appeared at the Brazilian Season presentation held at the Ball Room in New York, NY, in 1992. Between 1995 and 1999 she belonged to the vocal group Celacanto, and in 1998 she began working as a solo artist. Her debut CD, Futuros Amantes, was issued in 2000.
