Anamor, the half-Cuban/half-Italian pop singer, issued L'Inferno o l'Anima in 1999 while recording as Cenere and appeared at both the Castrocaro and Sanremo festivals before relocating first to Cuba and later to Miami. The notion for Anamor itself took shape in the United States, leading to the 2007 release of the single "Damila Si" throughout Latin America; strong regional response then prompted an Italian version as well. That fall brought the full-length De lo Tanto Que Te Amo, supported by a U.S. gay club tour during which listeners began hailing her as the next Cher, largely because of her deep voice.
