Stephen Christian routes his alt-rock inclinations through the solo outlet Anchor & Braille, an endeavor born from surplus songwriting that surpassed what could be accommodated by or suited to his previous ensemble, Anberlin. Material released under this banner has generally explored more intimate subjects while favoring a quieter sonic palette than the group’s work. Aaron Marsh of Copeland produced the project’s first album, Felt, which appeared in 2009 on Wood Water and Federal Records. The Quiet Life arrived next in 2012 via Tooth & Nail, and after fresh singles surfaced in 2014—the year Anberlin disbanded—Songs for the Late Night Drive Home came out in early 2016.
