Biography
Fernandoz emerged as a Swedish dansband in the 1990s before achieving widespread mainstream recognition during the mid-2000s, largely due to the arrival of vocalist Git Persson, whose contributions helped drive the Top Ten success of En Helt Ny Dag in 2008. Established in Vitsand, Sweden, in 1986, the group features Anders Nordlund on vocals, Conny Ohlson on guitar, Tom Manninen on saxophone, Conny Falk on drums, and Kenneth Herrgård on keyboards, with Nordlund remaining the sole uninterrupted member amid frequent personnel shifts across the decades. Their initial commercial output consisted of independently issued singles in the early 1990s, preceding the 1995 album debut with Dina Ögon Svarar Ja and the subsequent releases Ett Enda Minne in 1997 and Guld Och Gröna Skogar in 1999, alongside the mid- to late-1990s compilations Mitt Liv Med Dig and När Ett Hjärta Har Älskat. Chart entries on the Swedish albums list commenced after 2000 with Tomma Löften, after which Vem Får Din Kärlek I Natt from 2003 entered the Top 20 and Minnenas Allé from 2005 reached the Top Ten, confirming the band’s growing prominence. In 2007 they added Git Persson, a seasoned dansband performer previously affiliated with Kellys from 1994 to 2002 and Curt Haagers from 2003 to 2006; her first recording with Fernandoz was the 2008 album En Helt Ny Dag, which peaked at number six and included the hit single “Nej, Så Tjock Du Har Blitt.” Shortly thereafter the double-disc retrospective Mest Av Allt: Fernandoz Bästa Låtar appeared in 2008, though Persson departed the following year.
